1 million WiFi users for DS

Less that 4 months after it opened, Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection service reached 1 million users.

A gamer in Japan who signed on to play Animal Crossing : Wild World pushed the number of registered users over the milestone. Wi-Fi Connection is Nintendo’s free to use wireless gaming network that allows you to play over the Internet with other gamers anywhere in the world.

According to Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing, Reggie Fils-Aime, “Players are embracing our model of a compelling, safe, easy-to-use wireless gaming service.” “Those 1 million users represent more than 27 million game sessions.

Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection will be given a boost in March when the Wi-Fi enabled games Tetris DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters are released in North America.
