How It Works

Top Screen — In many DS games this screen displays a 3D version of the action, while the bottom screen displays additional info. such as the map, or special moves that you can access by pressing the screen
Touch Screen — The touch-screen is sensitive enough to draw pictures on - you can use the DS’s Pictochat software to send them wirelessly to the DS users like text messages.
Joypad — Most DS games are controlled using a combination of the revolutionary touch-screen and normal joy pad buttons. In 3D games, you can look around using the touch-screen and move using the buttons.
Microphone — The first generation of DS games don’t use the microphone often, but future titles will allow you to command troops in war games and even chat to characters in the game.
Nintendo DS Slot — DS games come in wafer-sized cartridges which fit into the back of the console. You’ll only need one cartridge to play wireless multi player games with up to eight people.
Game Boy Advance Slot — You can play any of your old Game Boy Advance games on the Nintendo DS, and this slot could also be used for add-ons such as cameras, printers and mobile-phone aerials.
