Introduction

Hello, I’m Robin, also known as Rpower at Gamefaqs (although I post not that
much on the AW DS board). If you want to know it or not I, am dutch.
which means you’ll find a lot of grammar errors)why I am writing a FAQ in
enlish? because I want to, why about Advance Wars Dual Strike?
because I love this game. You will find out as you progress in the game. Shall
we go on?

Introduction of Advance Dual Strike

There changed a lot since Advance Wars 2…

Smarter AI

The AI has gotten smarter. this means they won’t attack APC’s/T-copters/landers
when they get the chance. They have a better timing with their Co powers and
they use them better. when the unit has low HP, they decide to kamikaze the unit
(example: BH 1HP infantry attacks OS 10HP Neotank), i don’t know why they do
that. I guess they use that to fill up their power meter. they are now affected
by FOW as well.

Advance Wars Dual Strike has different modes, all explained beneath:

Campaign

The story mode of AW DS. I must say that the storyline has improved since AW2.
there are now 3 save slots instead of one. you can earn coins for battlemaps
here. and after you complete campaign, there is Hard Campaign

War Room

these are maps which gives the computer the advantage. they range from 1 vs.1 to
1 vs. three. do you think that you got what it takes to beat ‘m? try them. you
can earn coins here as well.

Versus

play against your friends or the computer here. good for hours of fun.

Survival

fight through 11 maps with different limitations

Money survival: battle through 11 maps with 500000 g.
Time survival: battle through 11 maps in 25 minutes
Turn survival: battle through 11 maps in 99 turns.

Combat

a real time game. different from the main game but still fun and challenging.

Battlemaps

buy your CO’s, CO color edits, maps and more here with your hard earned coins.

Wireless

play wireless battles against your friends and trade maps.

Normal Campaign

Mission 1 Jake’s Trail

OS: Jake
BM: Rachel
difficulty:*

Strategy: Attack tank with tank and finish it with the Mech. Move infantry 3E.
next day: Attack the two infantry with your units, that should do it. 300 Pts
S rank.

Mission 2 The New Black

OS: Jake
BH: Jugger
difficulty: *

Strategy: move your 1hp infantry into the APC and move it 2S 4E. Move tank all
the way west. Attack enemy tank with atillery. next, attack the tanks with
atillery when possible, move tank towards the bridge. Drop infantry onto HQ.
Again, attack tanks when possible. Move tank to plains above the right city.
Last, the enemy should have joined the 4hp tanks into a 8hp one. Finish the job
with the atillery. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 3 Max Attacks

OS: Max
BH: Lash
difficulty:**

Strategy: spread the B copters over the map so that the Black bombs damage will
be minimal. Next, move a B copters towards the bridge to stop the Md tanks.
Join the damaged units. Move the T copter over sea towards BH HQ. Attack
infantry with B copters, damage tank with mech and move T copter to BH HQ. M
ove Mech onto BH HQ. attack all units possible. damage Md. Tanks with
the B Copters. Destroy Md. Tank, attack tank, destroy infantry and start
capturing HQ.

Now on day 6 you’ll have the choice of capturing the HQ of routing the enemy.
I chose rout. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 4 Reclaim the Skies

OS: Rachel
BH: Jugger
difficulty:*

Don’t let the time limit fool you, this mission can be easily completed in 2
minutes. First, destroy Battle Copter with Missile, attack tank with Rocket,
finish it with your tank. Use the three AntiAirs to attack the fighters and
bomber. Next day, destroy remaining units with AntiAirs. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 5 Neverending War

OS: Jake
BH: Koal
difficulty: **

General Strategy: Build tanks first, then Atillery. lure the Md. tank with a
tank and blast it with the atillery. As long you have 2 Atillery you should
be fine. Build tanks as you wish. The rest should be easy after the Md tank
falls. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 6 The Ocean Blue

BM: Colin

BH: Lash
difficulty:**

First, move the copter to a place where the cruiser can’t attack it. then,
attack cruiser with rockets and attack enemy rockets with the Battleship.
Load infantry into APC and load APC and tank into lander. Move lander south.
Attack enemy sub with cruiser. Move sub and Dive.

Next day: destroy cruiser with Rockets and destroy sub with sub. attack B ship
with B copter. move lander 3S 3E. Move B ship 1E.

Day 3: attack B ship with sub and battle copter. move b ship. into position to
fire on rockets. Move lander 3E. Last day, destroy rockets with B copter, and
destroy the lander with sub and Rockets. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 7 Fog Rolls In

BM: Sasha
BH: Koal
Difficulty:**

move infantry 2E to reveal Atillery. Move recon 1N1W to attack atillery.
Move B copter 1N 5S to destroy atillery. load mech into APC and move 2S 3E,
drop on mountain. Move rockets 1S 4E. Atillery 4S 1E, tank 4S 1E Anti-air
1E 5S.

day 2, attack tank with B copter. Attack recon with rocket. Finish recon with
infantry. Move A-Air 1S 5E to destroy atillery if not destroyed previous day.
Move tank all the way east, atillery 4E and APC 2S 4E.

day 3, destroy tank with tank, move A-air 4E into woods. Move recon 1S 6E.
Move APC 3E 2N start capturing city with infantry, move rockets and atillery
all the way east.

day 4, move B copter 1W to attack tank, move tank 3E 1N to destroy it. Move APC
3E. Destroy infantry with rocket and atillery. Attack enemy APC with A-air and
recon. Finish capturing city and move mech 2E. End day

day 5, Move APC 5N to reveal atillery. Attack it with B copter and recon. Kill
mech with tank and AntiAir. Move mech 1N 1E. Mov rocket 2N, move atillery above
rocket. end day 5.

day 6, Destroy atillery with a-air. kill APC with with recon. Move mech 1N to
reveal lander. Destroy the lander with rocket and atillery. 300 Pts. S rank.

Mission 8 Tag Battle

OS: Max
BH: Jugger and Lash
difficulty: **

since day to day walkthroughs work no more from now on so you’ll get an
general strategy instead. Don’t worry you can still get an 300 pts on this
mission.

First, make some tanks to take out the piperunner. after that it’s easy to
get the bases near the pipe and in the middle. after you got them, go fir
the airport. spam tanks with the left and middle bases and make a bomber.
By the time they use their TAG, they should have nothing left that can do
some real damage. 300 Pts S rank.

Mission 9 Victory or death.

OS: Jake and Rachel
BH: Koal and Lash
difficulty: ***

You can’t advance to the middle base while the fortress it still up,
so sent all your fighters to the top screen. Build tanks to destroy all
enemy units at the left side of the middle base. After that, continue to
make tanks and bombers when you can, (deploy some AntiAirs for the B copters)
when you have the money. When the Fortress falls, advanc to the middle base
and recapture it. By the time you did that, you’ll have a few bombers and a
good ground force. So then you TAG, you should destroy everything you can
before you shatter the crystal. 300 pts. S rank.

Mission 10 Black Boats Ahoy

OS: Jake and Rachel
BH: Kindle
difficulty:***

NOTE: be aware that you are not standing on or next to a city or base when
Kindle’s meter is almost full.

Okay, move sub east and dive. Move lander 1N and load infantry into APC into
lander. attack atillery with recon. move both mechs 2E. Move A-air onto the
bridge. APlace aillery left from bottom mech. infantry an bottom tank all the
way east and remaining tank 1S 5E.

Day2 and further, move sub east. move lander to enemy HQ. move all units east
and attack when you can. drop APC with infantry when you can and wait with
capturing the left neutral cite after Urban Blight. after dropping APC, load
two most powerful units to destroy Atillery. destroy B ship with sub asap and
destroy the black boats after that. 300 pts. S rank.

Mission 11 The Long March

OS: Jake and Rachel
BM: Sasha and Colin
BH: Jugger and Koal
difficulty:***

not much to say here. capture is easier here than rout but it’s your call. move
mech into APC and send it togther with tank and recon towards HQ, taking out the
enemy tank, infantry and atillery. Meanwhile attack with the rockets and
atillery when you can. Cripple the Neotanks and Md. tanks first. with BM,
you’ll want to attack everything in sight and use Sasha’s COP to delay BH TAG
power. S rank.

Mission 12 Lightning Strikes

OS: Jake and Rachel
YC: Grimm and Sensei
difficulty:***

FIRST: TURN AUTO CO OFF!!!

Another Dual Screen battle. Send the AntiAir to the upper screen and the
key of winning this battle is owning the isle witrh the silo’s so, send
a APC with a infantry ASAP and use the silo’s on the isle before they can.

While your APC is racing towards the isle, make some AntiAirs and send them
to the upper screen so make it easier. defend with the units at the upper
screen while you attack the copters with A-airs. By the time you own the
isle, you should build units from that base and go and capture the airport.
Ater winning the second front, you’ll have a TAG power to cripple Grimm.
Just be sure you’ll use Rachel first and mop them up. the rest should be easy.
300 pts S rank.

Mission 13 Frozen Fortress

OS: Jake and Rachel
BM: Sasha and Colin
BH: Kindle and Jugger
difficulty: ***

OS: deploy infantry first two days to capture Com towers ASAP, the base and
city’s. After that make tanks and send them south, with APC backup. So when
you c-aptured all properties nearby, keep producing tanks and capture the
north east city for the LAB MAP.

BM: capture city’s and airport. make tanks and B copters. use Market Crash to
delay enemy’s TAG power. mop them up together with OS. Should be and 300 pts
S rank as well.

Mission 14 Lash’s Test

OS: Sensei and Grimm
BH: Lash
Difficulty:** (yes only two stars)

this mission is fun, but only available if you got the lab map in the previous
mission. But you should. First, send the B copter to the island to attack the
seem. transpoty the mech and infantry to the Com Towers to begin capturing.
Once you’ve broken the seem with the B copter (the seem on the right) switch
to Grimm.

ADVANCE SLOWELY, after you get to the left pipe seem area, attack it with a
neotank to free the Black Bombs. And keep a APC nearby. now you’ve freed the
Black Bombs. unlease hell on Lash’s units and mop them up. the rest should be
easy. 320 pts. S rank.

Mission 15 Verdant Hills

OS: Grimm and Sensei
BM: Rachel and Jake
GE: Javier and Jess
Difficulty: ****

Not much to say here. The AI is very random.

OS: deplay infantry to capture properties. then mass produce tanks to halt the
enemy.

BM: attack all unit’s you can see. Attack strongest one first and capture the
com towers. thats very important. The airport can help too. just make good use
of the woods and attack the units you see. Rachel’s SCOP helps a lot!! use
skills if needed. Good luck. 300 Pts S rank

Mission 16: Snow Hunters

Enemy CO: Hawke
Recommended COs: Rachel and Javier

At the start, move a rocket north to cover the base and the other east to cover
the other from infantry trying to capture them. Move the artillery northwest
also. Take a infantry/mech and put it in the lander and send it to the island
south and capture the comm tower and city. The city contains a map to a secret
level. Move tanks to the lower left where there is a gap in the pipe. Wait
for Hawke to send his units to you and shoot at his units with indirect units.
Once most of his units are destroyed move west to destroy the minicannons.

Mission 17 Spiral Garden

OS: Sensei and Grimm
BH: Kindle
difficulty:****

first with Sensei for the transport copters. Advance ASAP to take the furthest
properties away. support your infantry in T copter with tanks. Replace infantry
with mechs later. When the infantry/mech are transported, switch to Grimm.
Keep taking properties and guard the capturing the infantry with tanks
and atillery. Be sure to get the airport. Bombers rule in this mission. continue
on capturing properties and you’ll win. 300 Pts + 10 for every seem you destroy.

Mission 18 Omens and Signs

OS: Jake: upper front, Rachel: lower front.
BH: Koal and Jugger.
Difficulty:****

I love this mission. Don’t worry about the upper screen, just adapt to the lower
screen. the Black Arc will be destroyed eventually. just don’t attack the canons
before it’s destroyed because it’ss do one to zero hp damage.
First send all fighters but one to the upper screen. next, move all land units
south. To the south west corner of the map. you’ll want the base there.
move your indirects south and load your APC with mech. destroy the seem with
indirects to drop the STEALTH FIGHTER. do this fast because the cruisers are
attacking your carriers. YOUR CARRIERS MUST LIVE. after your Steaths are you of
the south west carriers, hide them. destroy everything in the south west corner
and capture the base. use the invisible stealths to attack the pipe seems of the
other carriers. about the naval and air: take out the enemy fighter by luring it
towards a carrier. take the soutern rocket OUT! attack naval units when possible
and build them while possible. keep B copters out of ememy cruiser range.
When the southern rocket has been taken out. move land units all the way east.
help to destroy the pipe seems to drop the Stealths. By the time you dropped all
stealths the Black Arc should fall and you’ll have a nice TAG, which you’ll use
to take out the minicannons. 300 pts. S rank.

Mission 19 Into The Woods.

OS: Rachel and Jess
BM: Sasha and Sensei
BH: Kindle and Lash
Difficulty: *****

NOTE: NEVER place a strong unit (neo or megatank) next to a wood.
There are two Oozium in this mission that can move 1 space but can destroy a
unit complete by devouring it. Because it can even destroy a unit completely
when they have 1 hp, only attack it when they will be completely destroyed.

let’s begin,
OS: move your units towards the east. ADVANCE SLOWELY. you don’t want
to lose your megatank to a oozium. But use the woods.along the road.
the oozium OS will have to kill will show up on day 2. so be warned. advance
while killing units in the woods. when the Oozium shows up. kill is by
surrounding it and attack it with mechs. Neo and mega tank. after the oozium
is killed you don’t have to worry about oozium for orange star no more. BM
however, get to kill one. Back to OS, you’ll want to kill the enemy mech before
it reaches the silo’s. March up to enemy HQ. when you reach the silo’s, fire
them on the enemy HQ because it’ll hit 2 Md. tank and a neotank

BM: because you have indirects, make use of the woods. and remember that
indirects are not very effective on ooziums. you’ll have to deal with 2
B copters as well. so proceed to enemy HQ slowely, trying not to lose any units.
When the oozium shows up: remember that it can’t destroy you when it’s not
directly next to you. so destroy it with indirects.

with OS and BM marching up, destroy all enemy units and the crippeled Neo and
Md. tanks. 300 Pts. S rank.

Mission 20 Muck Amok

Enemy CO: Koal
Recommended COs: Jess and Javier

There is no real strategy for this mission because the oozium move in relation
to your more powerful units. Make sure to attack an oozium from all 4 sides.
Also bring Hawkes units toward yours so that they dont die. You may want to get
the com towers on either the north or east on your position. Once the ooziums
are dead, either destroy his missile or capture his HQ.

Mission 21 Healing Touch

Enemy Co: Kindle and Jugger
Recommended COs: Jess/Javier and Hawke/Lash

This mission is also very easy. All enemy units are at 1 health, but will heal
2 health after every turn. Take out all of the strong units that are within
your reach before they have a chance to heal. Destroy the crystals as you work
your way north. Once all the crystals are destroyed the mission will end.

Mission 22 Crystal Calamity

Enemy CO: Koal and Kindle
Recommended COs: Orange Star - Grimm and Sasha
Blue Moon - Max and Sensei
Green Earth - Colin and Rachel

To win this battle, you have to launch all nine missiles at the Black Onyx.
Have Orange Star biuld infantry and tanks during the first few turns, to hold
off the first black hole attack. While Black Hole is attacking send one
infantry to the west silo. On Blue Moon’s turn, move all units south. Save
your money for a lander to get the silo on the island. Put the tank on the
city on the eastern bridge with the artillery behind it to take out the
midtank. Send one infantry to the southern silos. Quickly send an infantry
south on Green Earth’s turn to capture the silos, by building an T-copter.
Launch as many as you can before the infatry dies. Also send an infantry to
capture the airport near your HQ. Green Earth should also send some tanks to
destroy the Black Cannon. After all the silos have been launched, have Orange
Star build rockets to take out the Black Obilisk from behind the pipeline.

Mission 23 Dark Ambition

Enemy COs: Kindle and Olaf
Recommended COs: Orange Star - Sami and Sensei
Blue Moon - Eagle and Jake
Green Earth - Lash and Javier

Have Orange Star move the infantry and mech west to the silos and comm towers.
Send all of Blue Moon and Green Earth forces east to the pipeline. Attack with
long range units until they break the pipeline and when they do, attack with
tanks and air units. Once the pipeline is broken, have Orange Star launch the
silos at the enemy.

Mission 24 Pincer Strike

Enemy COs: Jugger and Drake
Recommended COs: Orange Star - Sonja and Lash
Blue Moon - Jess and Hawke

Move all Orange Star units towards your northeast. Capture the surrounding
cities. Do notmove Blue Moon’s units until the fog appears. Then take out the
missiles when it does. When Orange Star kills the enemy units near the comm
towers, send an infantry over in the lander to capture the cities. Watch out
for the sea units that make their way down the east side of the map. Start to
move all units toward the enemy HQ. Blue shpuld take out the long range units
and the infantry that try to come over the mountain, while Orange Star
continues to move toward the HQ.

Mission 25 Ring of Fire

Enemy COs: Kindle and Kanbei
Recommended COs: Grit - bottom screen
Sasha - upper screen

Have Grit move his long range units close to the mountains in the center so
that they can fire at the units near the volcano. On the outer edge, head for
the airport on the east side and the the base to the north of your HQ. If you
are not controlling Sasha, put her in the defensive position. If you are then
line up anti-airs in front with other units in the back. Send up two of Grits
anit-airs also. Grit should also destroy the outer units before the units near
the volcano, because the units inside the mountain range cant get out to
destroy your long range. As for Sasha, keep her in defensive postion until the
B-copters are destroyed, then finish of the rest of the units.

Mission 26 Surrounded!

Enemy COs: Kindle and Andy
Recommended COs: Orange Star - Javier and Sonja
Blue Moon - Sensei and Lash

The objective of this mission is to capture the 4 comm towers. Have Orange
Star capture the cities near the center and the enemy base and the ones close
to it. Send some Blue Moon troops to capture the bases near their HQ then
capture the comm tower. Then send all units north to get the last 2 comm
towers. Be sure to either capture enemy bases or cover them, it will make the
mission alot easier.

Mission 27: For the Future!

Enemy CO: Von Bolt
Recommended COs: Orange Star - Jess and Javier
Blue Moon - Lash and Sasha
Green Earth - Eagle and Sensei

Move Orange Star units north in a defensive position. I recommend building
tanks and artillery while you hold off the enemy units. Dont forget to capture
the comm towers. Do not move north until some of the minicannons are destroyed.
Try to kill the units in one turn so that they do not heal with the crystals.
Send 2 Blue Moon infantry units to capture the cities north. Do not move the
sea units, wait for the enemy sea units to come to you. Position Green Earth
units just out of range of the enemy air units. Do the same with the infantry
as you did with Blue Moon. You may want to save some money with Blue Moon and
Green Earth so they can buy more powerful units. When most of the Black Hole
units are dead in the middle, move Orange Star units north towards the bases.
Have Green Earth send a bomber around the pipeline and destroy the Black
Obilisk. When you are Eagle it should be destroyed in one hit.

Mission 28: Means to An End

Enemy Co: Von Bolt and Kindle
Recommended COs: Bottom Screen - Jess
Top Screen - Rachel

There is nothing you can do about the top screen since you cant control the top.
Build infantry to capture the cities. Also build a B-copter and send it down
to kill the infantry so they dont capture the cities. Then send 2-3 infantry
down in T-copters to capture the cities. The giant oozium will spawn oozium
out off its weak points every so often. Build strong units while you wait for
the crystals to be destroyed on the top. Send them up and be ready to destroy
the weak points when the crytals to fall.

Congratulations, you just beat normal campaign. You can now buy hard campaign,
new COs if you got an A rank or better, Sound Room, and Gallery too!
